Očéti Šakówiŋ Owáuŋspe (OSO) 8th grade students are visiting Terry Redlin Elementary on a monthly basis to tutor 4th graders. Yesterday was their first day where they helped students in class with math activities. #WhittierInTheWild #HelpingHands

On Monday, the choirs from Whittier, McGovern, and Ben Reifel Middle Schools will perform at the Washington Pavilion with choirs from Augustana University. The concert begins at 7pm and is free and open to the public. Join us in supporting our choir students! #WhittierInTheWild

This Season a Flu Shot is More Important than Ever! Getting a flu vaccine is a great way to protect yourself, your family, and your community from the flu. Back to a full week of activities! 8th grade PE students have field trips later this week, and cross country student-athletes are back at it with their rescheduled meet on Monday. There will also be a flu shot clinic available for students at Whittier on Wednesday morning.

A few updates to our athletics events for today:
-- All 7th & 8th Grade Football and Cross Country student-athletes are to go home immediately after school. Games and practice have been cancelled.
-- 7th Grade Volleyball players will still have Practice after school today.

Whittier 6th graders travelled to Mitchell, SD last week to visit the Prehistoric Indian Village and the Dakota Discovery Museum. Students' highlights included walking through the old house and school buildings, ringing the bell, and seeing the dig site. #WhittierInTheWild

Jefferson High School invites you to learn more about Project Based Learning (PBL) options at upcoming open houses on Monday, Oct. 30th & Wednesday, Nov. 8th. All students are welcome, regardless of current school of attendance.


Last week, Pascale Sablan, a groundbreaking architect, came to speak to our 8th grade students. Sablan has dedicated her career to making the built environment more equitable and advocates on behalf of women and BIPOC people in architecture as the founder and executive director of Beyond the Built Environment. Thank you, Pascale, for inspiring Whittier students!


Last week, our 7th graders traveled to Good Earth State Park. Students were able to learn about Blood Run Site, a National Historic Landmark significant for its history as a settlement for thousands of Native Americans. They checked out exhibits, watched a short film, and took a 45-minute hike exploring the natural habitat and vegetation of South Dakota. #WhittierInTheWild




Parent-Teacher Conferences are taking place this week on Tuesday and Thursday after school. We can't wait to welcome you to Whittier!
